India’s COVID-19 Caseload Nears 74 Lakh. Death Toll Mounts Over 1.12 lakh

India on Friday reported a spike of 63,371 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 73,70,469. The union health ministry of family and welfare in its am update sated that 895 coronavirus patients succumbed in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 1,12,161. The country has 8,04,528 COVID active cases and 64,53,779 people have discharged so far. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 10,28,622 samples were tested for COVID-19 on October 15. 9,22,54,927 samples have been tested across the country so far. As per the government data, the country is reporting a progressively high increase in the recoveries and a persistent decline in the percentage of active cases.
