Due to lack of administrative drive on diwali night, Agartla witnessed noisy Diwali on Saturday. High sound of fire crackers blasts heard till late night. There were playing high music too in some area which violates government guidelines. “The guidelines of the government has not been implemented properly. It’s almost like there is no ban at all” said Anindita Saha a house maker from Gorkhabasti on saturday night to The Tripura Post. The Tripura government on last Monday issued guidelines, including a ban on bursting of firecrackers, and strict adherence to social distancing norms during Diwali. The Department of Science, Technology and Environment, has issued a guideline banning bursting of firecrackers amid the pandemic and said that strict penal measures would be taken against violators. According to the SOP issued by government any kind of high volume music from 10 PM to 6 AM was prohibited. But still there were playing sound systems in many areas of the City Agartala till late night.
