21st Century Is Asia’s Century: PM Modi In ASEAN-India Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) attended the ASEAN-India Summit (ASEAN-India Summit 2023) in Jakarta, Indonesia on Thursday (September 7, 2023) morning. 

During this, PM Modi said, “21st century is Asia’s century. One Earth, One Family, One Future is our mantra. For this, it is necessary that we build a rule-based world order after the Kovid epidemic. Effort is necessary. I am sure that from our talks today, new resolutions will be taken to further strengthen the future of India and the ASEAN region.”

At the ASEAN Summit held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, PM Modi said, “21st century is the century of Asia. This is our century. This requires everyone’s efforts to build a rules-based world order after Covid-19 and for human welfare.”

He said, “Progress of a free and open Indo-Pacific region and amplifying the voice of the Global South. It is in everyone’s common interest.”

PM Modi further said – “ASEAN also has a prominent place in India’s Indo Pacific Initiative. ASEAN is the central pillar of India’s Act East Policy. Today, in an environment of global uncertainties, our mutual cooperation is increasing. Our partnership is in the fourth Entering the decade.”

Prime Minister Modi said, “Our partnership is entering the fourth decade. It is a matter of great pleasure for me to co-chair the India-ASEAN Summit. I congratulate President Widodo for organizing this summit I express my gratitude to him. Many congratulations to him for chairing the ASEAN Summit. 

Prime Minister Modi said, “Last year we celebrated the India-ASEAN Friendship Year and transformed our relations into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Today, even in the environment of global uncertainties, our mutual cooperation in every field is making steady progress. This is a reflection of our relations.”

PM Modi said that India fully supports ASEAN centrality and ASEAN’s stand on Indo-Pacific. The ASEAN region also has a prominent place in India’s Indo-Pacific initiative. Country Co-ordinator Singapore India is determined to work shoulder to shoulder with the incoming President Lao PDR and all of you.

ASEAN is considered one of the most influential groupings in the region. Many other countries including India, America, China, Japan and Australia are its dialogue partners. 

Relations between India and ASEAN have strengthened significantly over the years, with a focus on promoting cooperation in the areas of trade and investment as well as security and defence.
