According to the Protem Speaker Binoy Bhushan Das, 31 of the new MLAs who took oath are from the BJP, two from the Congress and the remaining 11 from the opposition CPI-M.
“BJP-IPFT has a total of 33 MLAs. Just a day before, while I was sworn in by the Governor, one of our MLAs, Pratima Bhowmik, resigned from her post. Rest 31 MLAs have been sworn in today. All 11 MLAs of the opposition CPI(M) have also taken oath. Besides this, two Congress MLAs have also taken oath except Sudip Roy Barman. The remaining MLAs will take oath of office in the House tomorrow i.e Friday,” informed Das.

“The Tipra Motha MLAs have expressed their willingness to take the oath of office and secrecy in their mother tongue, Kokborok. So arrangements have been made according to their convenience” Said Protem Speaker.
It is worth mentioning that the BJP MLAs took oath of office in the Vidhansabha Bhawan, while the CPI(M) MLAs had to take oath in the Assembly Speaker’s chamber due to their late arrival.
Shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, “Development is our main agenda. We have always said that we want to see our state as one of the most developed states. In a parliamentary democracy, the opposition and the ruling parties have a very important role to play in the proceedings of the state legislature.”
On the other hand CPIM Tripura State Secretary and newly elected MLA Jitendra Choudhury said that
” For the interest of the state or country we will help the government and appreciate its development work with positive attitude. But when the situation come of anti-state or anti-country and anti-people work we will oppose it with full force in the parliament and out of the Parliament.
