There are more than 9.79 lakh vacancies in 78 Ministries and Departments of the Central Government, including 2.93 lakh vacancies in Railways, 2.64 lakh in Defense (Civil) and 1.43 lakh in Home Affairs.
The government presented this information in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
In a written reply to a question by BJP MP Sushil Modi, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said the ongoing ‘Rozgar Mela’ will act as a catalyst in generating employment and self-employment, besides benefitting 10 lakh youths. Will provide service opportunities.
Jitendra Singh said that Rozgar Mela (Employment Fair) programs are being organized across the country and new appointments are being made in various Central Ministries, Departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies.
The Minister said that a National Recruitment Agency has been constituted and a detailed study of the recruitment system at the Center as well as in the States has been done to adopt best practices.
