Agartala Content Creator Arrested in Alleged Rape Case

Aditya Das, a social media content creator and mobile shop owner from Agartala, has been arrested on charges of allegedly raping a tribal girl after allegedly luring her with the promise of gifting an expensive iPhone.

According to police officials, the accused was arrested late on Saturday night following a complaint lodged by the victim at the women’s police station in Agartala.

Accused Allegedly Contacted Victim Through Facebook

Police sources said Aditya Das allegedly came in contact with the tribal girl from Dhalai district through Facebook several months ago.

Investigators said the two gradually began communicating regularly on social media before the accused allegedly proposed meeting the victim in person.

According to police, Aditya Das allegedly promised to gift the girl an expensive iPhone and used the offer to gain her trust.

Victim Alleges Sexual Assault at Hotel Near Badarghat Railway Station

According to the complaint filed by the victim, she travelled to Agartala by train on Saturday morning to purchase medicine.

After arriving at Badarghat Railway Station, the accused allegedly arrived on a high-end motorbike and met her near the station.

The victim alleged that although Aditya Das initially claimed he would take her elsewhere, he instead took her to a three-storey hotel located near the railway station.

The complaint stated that the accused allegedly forcibly raped the young woman inside the hotel room and assaulted her physically when she resisted.

Accused Allegedly Threatened Victim Before Fleeing

Police sources said the victim also alleged that the accused threatened to kill her before fleeing from the hotel premises.

The complainant further alleged that Aditya Das kept her mobile phone with him before escaping from the location.

According to investigators, the victim later managed to leave the hotel and approached the West Agartala Women Police Station, where she submitted a written complaint.

Police Conduct Raid and Arrest Accused From Mobile Shop

Following the complaint, Tripura Police launched an immediate investigation into the alleged rape case.

A police team led by Inspector Shiuli Das, Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Women Police Station, conducted a late-night raid at the accused’s mobile shop near Laxminarayan Bari.

Aditya Das was subsequently arrested from the mobile shop during the operation.

Police Say Accused Tried to Influence Investigation

Police officials stated that the accused is originally from the Kamalpur area and owns two mobile shops in Agartala, including establishments near Siddhi Ashram and Laxminarayan Bari.

Investigators also confirmed that Aditya Das is married and has a child and was residing in the Gangail Road area of Agartala.

According to police sources, after being brought to the police station, the accused allegedly attempted to intimidate officers by referring to his influence and social status.

Later, the accused was handed over to Amtali Police Station and formally arrested around 2 am on Sunday.
