Alka Yagnik Among Eminent Personalities Honoured with Padma Awards by President Murmu

President of India Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday presented the second batch of the prestigious Padma Awards 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, honouring 65 distinguished personalities from across India for their outstanding contributions in various fields.

The grand investiture ceremony, held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, witnessed the conferment of some of the country's highest civilian honours, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards.

Justice K.T. Thomas, P. Narayanan Receive Padma Vibhushan

Former Supreme Court judge Justice K.T. Thomas was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his exceptional contribution to public affairs. Veteran Malayalam journalist P. Narayanan also received the nation's second-highest civilian award for his remarkable contribution to literature and education.

Alka Yagnik, Mammootty, Vijay Amritraj Among Awardees

Several renowned personalities were also felicitated during the ceremony. Celebrity playback singer Alka Yagnik, acclaimed actor Mammootty, internationally acclaimed oncologist Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, and former Indian tennis star Vijay Amritraj were among those honoured.

The second phase of the ceremony saw the presentation of two Padma Vibhushan awards, seven Padma Bhushan awards and 56 Padma Shri awards. In a few instances, the honours were presented jointly.

131 Personalities Selected for Padma Awards 2026

The Government of India has selected a total of 131 eminent personalities for the Padma Awards 2026. Earlier, during the first phase of the investiture ceremony held on May 25, 66 awardees, including women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and veteran actor Dharmendra, were honoured for their distinguished achievements.

The Padma Awards, one of India's highest civilian honours, recognise excellence and distinguished service in diverse disciplines including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work and public affairs.
