Amit Shah Tripura Visit: Police Conduct Trial Run Ahead Of Home Minister's Arrival, Border Inspection And Taj Hotel Project Launch

Tripura Police on Wednesday carried out a comprehensive trial run of Union Home Minister(Ministry of Home Affairs MHA) Amit Shah's convoy route ahead of his scheduled two-day visit to the state beginning June 4.

The security rehearsal covered key locations, including VIP Road in the Gorkhabasti area and the historic Pushpabanta Palace complex, where a major tourism project is set to be launched.

According to official sources, Amit Shah will arrive in Tripura after attending the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya. The NEC plays a crucial role in the planning and development of the Northeastern region.

A major highlight of the visit will be the foundation stone laying ceremony for the upcoming Taj Pushpabanta Palace Hotel (Taj Hotels).

The ambitious heritage tourism project is being developed through a partnership between the Tripura Government and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the hospitality arm of the Tata Group.

The agreement aims to transform the century-old Pushpabanta Palace into a world-class heritage hotel, positioning Tripura as a major tourism destination in Northeast India. The project is expected to generate employment, attract private investment and boost the state's hospitality sector.

Built in 1917 by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya, Pushpabanta Palace is one of Tripura's most significant heritage landmarks. The palace later served as the Governor's House and remains an important symbol of the state's royal legacy.

Apart from development-related programmes, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit border areas in West Tripura and Sepahijala districts to inspect barbed-wire fencing along the India-Bangladesh international border. The visit assumes significance amid ongoing efforts to strengthen border infrastructure and surveillance systems.

The Tripura Government has previously sought Central assistance to repair damaged stretches of border fencing affected by adverse weather conditions.
