Anger Spreads After Manipur Bomb Kills Kids

Protests erupted in the Khurai Lamlong area of Imphal East district on Wednesday, April 8, following a deadly bomb attack in Tronglaobi village of Bishnupur district that claimed the lives of two children.

The incident triggered widespread anger and grief among residents. Demonstrators poured onto the streets in Khurai Lamlong, condemning the attack and demanding swift action against those responsible. Protesters also called for stronger security measures to prevent further violence.

According to reports, the explosion occurred on April 7 in Tronglaobi village, killing a five-year-old boy and his five-month-old sister. Authorities suspect the involvement of Kuki militant elements, although no official confirmation has been made as investigations remain ongoing.

As tensions escalated, security forces intervened to bring the situation under control, firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. No major injuries were reported during the crowd control operation.

The Tronglaobi blast has further strained the already fragile security situation in Manipur, with authorities intensifying surveillance and maintaining heightened vigilance in sensitive areas. Officials are yet to issue a detailed statement on the progress of the investigation.
