Army Truck Falls Into Gorge in Arunachal Pradesh, One Soldier Killed, Two Injured

A tragic road accident Arunachal Pradesh claimed the life of an Indian Army soldier and left two others injured after a military truck plunged into a deep gorge in West Kameng district on Thursday.
According to official sources, the fatal mishap occurred at approximately 2 pm on June 26 along National Highway-13 near Dirang. The Army vehicle, attached to the 18 Sikh Light Infantry regiment, was carrying three personnel and was heading towards its unit when the driver reportedly lost control.

The truck crashed through the chain-link boundary fence near the parade ground of the 30 Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) before tumbling down a steep hillside adjacent to the highway.
Swift Rescue Operation by SSB Team
Immediately after the incident, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the 30 Battalion SSB rushed to the accident site and launched an intensive rescue operation.
One of the injured soldiers was initially provided emergency medical care at the SSB unit's Medical Inspection Room before being shifted to the District Hospital in Bomdila for specialised treatment.
The other two Army personnel were evacuated to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dirang.
Doctors at CHC Dirang later declared one soldier brought dead, while the remaining two continue to receive treatment at medical facilities in Bomdila and Dirang.
Cause of Accident Yet to Be Established
Authorities have informed the concerned Army formations about the incident. However, the exact reason behind the accident has not yet been officially confirmed.

An investigation is expected to determine whether adverse road conditions, technical failure, or other factors contributed to the tragic crash.
The incident once again highlights the challenging terrain and hazardous road conditions frequently encountered by security personnel deployed in the northeastern frontier region.
