Assam, European Union Launch Blue Valley Cluster to Unlock New Investment Opportunities in Northeast India

In a significant move to deepen economic engagement between Europe and Northeast India, the Government of Assam and the Delegation of the European Union to India officially launched the Blue Valley Cluster in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The flagship initiative is aimed at enhancing cooperation in the flavours, fragrances and  AYUSH sectors while attracting investment, promoting innovation and creating new industrial partnerships between European businesses and enterprises in Northeast India.

The launch event was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, European Union Ambassador to India Hervé Delphin, Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George, Belgium Ambassador to India Didier Vanderhasselt and representatives of the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI).

Officials said the Blue Valley Cluster represents an important step in translating the broader India-European Union strategic partnership into practical economic collaboration at the regional level.

The initiative is expected to connect businesses in Assam and Northeast India with international value chains, global markets and emerging investment opportunities.

A major focus of the project will be expanding opportunities for farmers, women entrepreneurs, youth, start-ups and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to participate in high-value bioeconomy sectors.

The programme is also expected to support skill development, employment generation, sustainable livelihoods and increased trade and investment.

According to the EU delegation, the launch highlights the growing potential for stronger Assam-Europe economic relations through structured business engagements, sector-focused dialogues, private-sector investment and joint innovation projects.

Experts believe the Blue Valley Cluster can play a key role in positioning Assam as a gateway for European investment in Northeast India while creating a framework for long-term sustainable economic growth and stronger commercial ties between the region and Europe.
