AI-Powered Banking Services Introduced in Assam

The next-generation “phygital” branch combines physical banking services with advanced digital technology and artificial intelligence to offer faster, smarter and paperless banking solutions.

The branch features AI-enabled self-service kiosks, digital account opening systems, paperless cash deposits and withdrawals, and simplified onboarding facilities aimed at improving customer convenience and accessibility.

Officials said the innovative banking model is designed to reduce waiting time, simplify banking procedures and make financial services more accessible for customers across different income groups.

Boost to Digital Banking and Financial Inclusion

He described the collaboration between the Assam government and Slice Small Finance Bank as an important step toward strengthening financial inclusion and expanding access to modern banking services across the state.

The AI-powered banking branch is expected to provide improved credit facilities, savings accounts and digital payment services for individuals, startups, traders and small businesses, especially in areas with limited banking infrastructure.

Smart Banking Facility to Support Small Businesses

Bank officials said the new “phygital” branch aims to bridge the gap between conventional banking and digital financial services by combining technology with personalized customer support.

The facility is also expected to expand access to responsible credit and modern financial solutions for underserved populations while encouraging wider adoption of digital banking in Assam.

Guwahati Emerging as Fintech and Innovation Hub

The launch of India’s first AI-powered “phygital” bank branch positions Guwahati as an emerging hub for financial technology innovation and AI-based banking services in Northeast India.

Experts believe the initiative could accelerate digital financial inclusion and strengthen Assam’s position in the country’s rapidly growing fintech ecosystem.
