The Numaligarh region has witnessed repeated elephant movement in recent months, with wild herds frequently entering areas used by local communities. Recent reports have also highlighted continuing concerns over human-elephant conflict in and around Numaligarh.

The wider region is an important elephant habitat, making safe coexistence between wildlife and nearby communities a significant conservation challenge.

Forest Department Response Awaited

It was not immediately clear whether forest officials had located the elephant or begun an operation to remove the tyre.

Wildlife experts and local residents are expected to closely monitor the situation, particularly if the tyre restricts the animal’s movement, feeding or breathing.

The incident also underlines the need for greater awareness about dumping discarded materials in areas regularly used by wildlife.

Further details about the elephant’s condition and any rescue operation were awaited.
