Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Theft Case: Champat Rai, Anil Mishra Resign; 8 Arrested

The alleged donation theft case linked to the Ayodhya Ram Temple has triggered major administrative changes within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. According to sources, Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Dr. Anil Mishra have stepped down from their posts amid the ongoing controversy.

Sources also claimed that Gopal Rao, who was overseeing the construction activities of the grand Ram Temple, has been removed from the temple administration.

Trust Restructuring Likely Amid Growing Controversy

Champat Rai has long been considered one of the key figures in the management of the Ayodhya Ram Temple project. Along with him, Dr. Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao played crucial roles in supervising the affairs of the trust.

Speculation regarding changes in the trust administration intensified after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's recent visit to Ayodhya, during which Champat Rai was reportedly kept away from official engagements.

Sources indicate that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust may soon undergo a major restructuring in the wake of the donation theft allegations.

FIR Registered, Eight Accused Arrested

The first FIR in the alleged donation embezzlement case was registered late Thursday evening following a complaint filed by trust member Krishna Mohan.

However, Champat Rai, Dr. Anil Mishra and other senior office-bearers have not been named in the FIR.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested eight individuals late Thursday night, including Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu, in connection with the alleged misappropriation of temple offerings.

Court Sends All Accused To 14-Day Judicial Custody

After undergoing medical examinations, all eight accused were produced before a local court on Friday.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court subsequently sent all the accused to judicial custody for 14 days.

Public Prosecutor K.C. Verma confirmed that the accused have been remanded to jail and are scheduled to appear before the court again on Monday.

Investigators have reportedly recovered Rs 79,85,493 from the arrested individuals.

SIT Report Led To Major Crackdown

The alleged theft of temple donations first came to light on June 7, prompting the Uttar Pradesh government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13.

The SIT submitted its preliminary findings to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad on June 23. Based on the report, authorities launched a major crackdown and arrested eight persons associated with the temple administration two days later.

List Of Accused

Those arrested in the case include Ramshankar "Tinnu" Yadav, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Manish Yadav, Avinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Subhash Chandra Srivastava and Ramashankar Mishra.

Investigators said Anukalp Mishra is the brother-in-law of Lavkush Mishra, and both are relatives of Dr. Anil Mishra. Manish Yadav is reportedly the nephew of Tinnu Yadav.

The investigation into the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case is continuing, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
