Bear Attacks Husband-Wife in Tripura’s Jolaibari, Both Injured

A husband and wife were injured after a wild bear reportedly attacked them while they were working inside a rubber plantation forest in Jolaibari, South Tripura, on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at Panjira Mag Para in Birendranagar ADC Village, which falls under the Jolaibari Assembly constituency. The husband, identified as Angsafai Magh, reportedly sustained serious injuries, while his wife, Angsano Magh, also suffered injuries in the attack.

Couple Attacked While Cleaning Rubber Plantation

According to information from local sources, the couple, who live in Magh Para, had gone to a rubber plantation located near their residence to carry out cleaning work.

While they were engaged in the work, a bear reportedly appeared suddenly and attacked them. The animal injured both Angsafai Magh and Angsano Magh before the couple could move away from the area.

The husband is understood to have suffered more serious injuries, while his wife's injuries were reportedly less severe.

Locals Rescue Injured Couple

Following the incident, nearby residents reached the location and helped rescue the injured couple.

They were subsequently taken to Shantirbazar District Hospital, where both are currently receiving medical treatment.

Bear Attack Raises Concern in Jolaibari

The incident has caused anxiety among residents of the surrounding area, particularly those who regularly work in rubber plantations and other locations close to forested areas.

The latest attack has also renewed concerns about encounters between people and wild animals in plantation areas. Residents have been advised to remain alert while entering rubber plantations or working near forest-covered areas.

Bear attacks have previously been reported in Tripura, including incidents involving people working in agricultural or forest-adjacent areas.
