Bihar Bypoll: Prashant Kishor Scripts Historic Bankipur Win; Congress Wins Datia, BJP Retains Manjalpur

The Election Commission has declared the results of the Assembly by-elections held in Bankipur (Bihar), Datia (Madhya Pradesh), and Manjalpur (Gujarat), producing significant political outcomes across three states. The contests saw victories for the Jan Suraaj Party, Congress and BJP, respectively. 

The biggest headline emerged from Bankipur, where Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar by a margin of 18,953 votes. Kishor secured 63,203 votes, while Neeraj Kumar received 44,250 votes, marking one of the most closely watched political contests in Bihar. 

BJP Loses Traditional Stronghold in Bankipur

Bankipur has long been regarded as a BJP fortress. The constituency was represented for five consecutive terms by BJP leader Nitin Naveen, who vacated the Assembly seat after entering the Rajya Sabha, making the by-election necessary. Prashant Kishor's victory is being viewed as a major political breakthrough for the Jan Suraaj Party. 

Prashant Kishor Calls for a New Political Direction in Bihar

After his victory, Prashant Kishor said Bihar deserves better governance and development. He argued that the people of the state should not be identified only as migrant workers and called for stronger leadership.

He also stated that while immediate transformation is unrealistic, residents of Bankipur would begin seeing visible improvements within the next two to three months. According to Kishor, the election verdict sends a strong political message and reflects voters' desire for a more capable Chief Minister in Bihar.

Congress Wins Datia Assembly Seat in Madhya Pradesh

In Datia Assembly constituency of Madhya Pradesh, Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated BJP nominee Ashutosh Tiwari by 6,016 votes.

The BJP had fielded Ashutosh Tiwari in place of former Home Minister Narottam Mishra, but the strategy failed as the party lost the seat, with Tiwari reportedly trailing even in the polling booth associated with Mishra. 

BJP Retains Gujarat's Manjalpur Constituency

In Gujarat's Manjalpur Assembly constituency, BJP candidate Satendrabhai (Satish) Patel comfortably defeated Congress rival Bhikhabhai Rabari by 30,630 votes, enabling the BJP to retain the seat with a commanding margin. 

Voting Held on July 30

Polling for the three Assembly by-elections was conducted on July 30, while counting concluded on Monday with the official declaration of results. The outcomes are expected to influence political strategies ahead of upcoming electoral battles in Bihar and other states.
