BJP Ahead by Huge Margin in Dharmanagar by poll

The much-awaited counting of votes for the by-election in Dharmanagar Assembly constituency has begun, triggering heightened excitement and curiosity among political circles and the public alike.
Counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) started early in the morning under tight security arrangements. The process is being conducted simultaneously across 14 tables, with election officials and authorized representatives of all contesting candidates present at each table to ensure full transparency and adherence to electoral norms.
Security has been significantly tightened in and around the counting centres, with a heavy deployment of police personnel to prevent any untoward incidents. Barricading and controlled entry points have been put in place, reflecting the administration’s focus on maintaining law and order during the sensitive counting process.
Amid this, a mix of उत्साह and tension is visible among party workers and supporters gathered outside, eagerly tracking every update from inside the counting halls.
According to early trends after the second round of counting, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a commanding lead. The BJP candidate has secured 12,669 votes so far.
The Indian National Congress (Congress) is trailing with 3,876 votes, while the Communist Party of India (CPI) has garnered 2,574 votes.
Among other contenders, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) (SUCI) has received 125 votes, Amra Bengali has secured 136 votes, and an independent candidate has polled 60 votes.
Overall, the BJP candidate is currently leading by a substantial margin of 8,793 votes, indicating a strong early advantage as counting progresses.
With several rounds still to go, all eyes remain on the final outcome, which will determine the political direction of this constituency.
