The Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura on Sunday (April 26) submitted a memorandum to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, levelling serious allegations against the Tipra Motha Party-run Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and demanding a formal enquiry.
A BJP delegation led by former MP Rebati Tripura, party general secretary Bipin Debbarma, MLA Pramod Reang, and former MDCs Bhumika Nanda Reang and Bimal Kanti Chakma met the Governor seeking intervention.
In the memorandum, BJP alleged that the TTAADC administration based in Khumulwng was involved in “rampant corruption,” including misappropriation of public funds and misuse of project money during its tenure.
The party further claimed that during the election period, the council administration appointed several candidates to Group-C and Group-D posts in a hurried and secretive manner without proper procedures or public notification. According to BJP, such recruitment violates principles of transparency and natural justice and could involve monetary irregularities.
The memorandum also alleged that the council failed to follow mandatory financial audit practices over the years, leading to a collapse of fiscal discipline. BJP leaders stated that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India had previously flagged concerns and alerted the state government for corrective action.
Urging immediate intervention, the BJP requested the Governor to order a thorough enquiry into the allegations and take necessary remedial steps to safeguard the interests and welfare of people residing in TTAADC areas.
