Cameroonian National Arrested While Illegally Crossing India-Bangladesh Border in South Tripura

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have apprehended a 41-year-old Cameroonian national for allegedly entering India illegally through the India-Bangladesh international  border at Ballamukha in South Tripura's Bilonia subdivision. The accused has been handed over to Bilonia Police, which has launched a detailed investigation into the cross-border intrusion.

According to official sources, the foreign national has been identified as Peters Mollah, a resident of Cameroon, an African nation. Personnel of the 43 Battalion BSF, deployed on routine border surveillance, intercepted him after detecting suspicious movement near the unfenced stretch of the international boundary at Ballamukha under Ishanchandranagar Gram Panchayat.

Following preliminary questioning and legal formalities at the BSF camp, the accused was transferred to Bilonia Police Station for further investigation.

Court Grants Three-Day Police Custody

The accused was produced before the Bilonia court, which granted three days of police remand to facilitate detailed interrogation.

Investigators are now trying to determine the exact route used by the foreign national to enter Indian territory and whether he received assistance from any local or international network operating along the border.

Police Probe Possible Human Trafficking Network

Police officials said investigators are examining whether the illegal entry is linked to an international human trafficking syndicate, organized cross-border facilitators, or any other criminal network.

During the remand period, officers will question the accused to establish his travel history, purpose of entering India, possible accomplices, and any connections with transnational crime.

Officials said the investigation remains at an early stage, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
