Delhi CM Rekha Gupta To Visit Tripura Sundari Temple Tomorrow

Rekha Gupta, the Chief Minister of Delhi is scheduled to visit Tripura on May 13 to offer prayers at the famous Tripura Sundari Temple, officials said.

The temple, popularly known as Matabari, is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in the Northeast. Located in Udaipur, around 55 kilometres from Agartala, the shrine is dedicated to Goddess Tripureshwari.

Built in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the temple is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. According to Hindu belief, it is the sacred site where the right foot of Goddess Sati fell. The temple is also known for its unique structure, which is built atop a hillock shaped like a tortoise.

Officials said Rekha Gupta will travel to Tripura after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP-led NDA government headed by Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Before participating in the oath-taking ceremony, the Delhi Chief Minister is also expected to visit the revered Kamakhya Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings.

Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected leader of the BJP-led NDA legislature party in Assam on Sunday and is set to take oath as Chief Minister on May 12.
