England Beat Norway 2-1, Reach FIFA World Cup 2026 Semi-Finals

England booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals after defeating Norway 2-1 in extra time, with Jude Bellingham producing a match-winning performance in Miami on Sunday. The Real Madrid midfielder scored both goals for the Three Lions, including the decisive strike just three minutes into extra time, as England continued their quest for a second World Cup title.

The hard-fought quarter-final ended 1-1 after regulation time, forcing an additional 30 minutes before Bellingham settled the contest. England will now meet the winner of the Argentina vs Switzerland quarter-final in the last four.

Jude Bellingham Delivers Again for England

Bellingham once again proved why he is one of world football's brightest stars. His brace increased his tally to six goals in the tournament, equalling England captain Harry Kane.

The achievement also created history, as England now have two players with six goals each in the same FIFA World Cup—something never achieved before by the national team.

Jordan Pickford Breaks England Goalkeeping Record

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made his 18th FIFA World Cup appearance, surpassing legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton's record of 17 matches.

The Everton shot-stopper is now England's most-capped goalkeeper in World Cup history, adding another milestone to his international career.

Norway's Historic Run Ends in Miami

Norway's dream campaign came to an end despite a spirited performance.

The Scandinavian nation was appearing in its first-ever FIFA World Cup quarter-final, improving on previous Round of 16 finishes in 1938 and 1998 before finally bowing out against England.

England Return to the World Cup Last Four

The victory sends England into the World Cup semi-finals for the fourth time in history.

The Three Lions previously reached the final four in 1966, 1990, and 2018. England's only World Cup triumph remains the memorable 1966 final victory over West Germany.

Schelderup Gives Norway Early Advantage

Norway struck first in the 36th minute when Andreas Schelderup calmly finished to beat Jordan Pickford.

England responded deep into first-half stoppage time through Jude Bellingham, whose close-range finish restored parity before the interval.

However, after reviewing the incident, VAR ruled out the goal because of a foul committed by Erling Haaland during the attacking phase.

Haaland Held Scoreless

England's defence successfully contained Haaland throughout the contest.

The Manchester City striker failed to score for the first time in the tournament before leaving the field during extra time, ending Norway's impressive World Cup campaign.

With the match locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes, Bellingham struck in the 93rd minute to complete his brace and send England into the semi-finals.
