Germany have successfully defended their men's fourth Hockey World Cup title after defeating Spain 1-0 in the final at Wavre, Belgium, on Sunday. The victory secured Germany's fourth Hockey World Cup title and made them the first men's team to win consecutive World Cups on two separate occasions.
Michel Struthoff scored the decisive goal in the 44th minute as Germany capitalised on a counter-attacking opportunity. Spain created considerable pressure during the match but could not find the breakthrough against a disciplined German defence.
