Gujarat Titans Crush Rajasthan Royals by 77 Runs, RCB Eye Top Spot in IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday. The emphatic victory pushed Gujarat to second place in the IPL points table, although a slightly lower net run rate kept them from claiming the top spot.

Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, slipped to fifth position after suffering their fifth defeat of the season.

Gujarat Titans Post 229 Runs After Rajasthan Opt to Bowl

After winning the toss in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals elected to field first. Gujarat Titans responded with a massive total of 229 for 3 in 20 overs, putting the Rajasthan bowlers under severe pressure.

In reply, Rajasthan were bowled out for just 152 runs in 16.3 overs as Gujarat completely dominated the second innings.

Star spinner Rashid Khan delivered a match-winning spell, taking four wickets and earning the Player of the Match award.

Gujarat Register Fourth Consecutive Win

Led by captain Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans secured their seventh victory in 11 matches this season. The team now has 14 points and needs just one more win to officially qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs.

The victory also marked Gujarat’s fourth consecutive win of the ongoing season, strengthening their title challenge.

Rajasthan Royals suffered their second consecutive defeat and fifth overall. Despite the setback, Rajasthan still remains in playoff contention with 12 points from 11 matches and can potentially reach 18 points.

IPL 2026: Sunday Double-Header Preview

The IPL will feature two crucial matches on Sunday.

Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants

Chennai Super Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium from 3:30 PM.

Chennai, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, currently sits sixth in the standings. A convincing win could push CSK into the top four ahead of Rajasthan Royals.

Lucknow, however, faces elimination pressure. The team has managed only three wins from ten matches and sits at the bottom of the table with six points. Another defeat would officially end their playoff hopes.

RCB Can Become Table Toppers

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Mumbai Indians in Raipur at 7:30 PM.

Bengaluru currently occupies fourth place with 12 points from 10 matches. A victory over Mumbai Indians would take RCB to the top of the IPL points table due to a superior net run rate over Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

For Mumbai Indians and captain Hardik Pandya, the match is virtually a knockout game. Mumbai has lost seven of ten matches and must win all remaining fixtures to keep slim playoff hopes alive.

Orange Cap Race Remains Unchanged

After 51 matches in IPL 2026, Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad continues to lead the Orange Cap standings with 494 runs.

His teammate Abhishek Sharma remains second with 475 runs, while KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals is third with 468 runs.
