Iran-aligned Houthi rebels launched a major wave of missile and drone attacks across Yemen and Saudi Arabia on Thursday, sharply escalating tensions in the region.

The attacks targeted military positions in Yemen, where government forces suffered heavy casualties. Reports put the death toll at at least 30 soldiers, with some Yemeni government sources reporting as many as 58 troops killed. More than 50 others were reportedly wounded in the strikes.

The Houthi offensive involved ballistic missiles and drones and struck military camps in Yemen's Marib and Hadramout provinces. The attacks represent one of the most serious escalations since the 2022 truce between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition.

11 Civilians Injured in Saudi Arabia's Najran

The Houthi attacks also reached Najran in southern Saudi Arabia, where 11 civilians were injured, according to Saudi authorities.

Those injured included seven Saudi nationals, one Yemeni national, two Egyptian nationals, one Pakistani national and a four-year-old child. Emergency and firefighting teams were deployed after fires were reported in several locations following the attack.

In another major development, an explosion inside a building in southern Lebanon killed two Israeli soldiers and injured four others. Israel subsequently carried out airstrikes against several locations in Lebanon.
