India beat Ukraine 4-1, keep Uber Cup hopes alive

India kept their quarter-final hopes alive at the Uber Cup 2026 with a convincing 4-1 win over Ukraine in their second Group A match in Horsens.

After a narrow 2-3 loss to hosts Denmark, the Indian team bounced back strongly. They now face defending champions China in a crucial final group match on Monday, which will decide their place in the knockout stage.

Young shuttler Unnati Hooda gave India a solid start, defeating Polina Buharova in straight games 21-19, 22-20. Tanvi Sharma extended the lead to 2-0 with a hard-fought three-game victory over Yevheniya Kantemir.

With PV Sindhu rested for singles, Devika Sihag stepped up and delivered, beating Maria Stoliarenko 23-21, 21-13 to seal the tie for India at 3-0.

India’s only setback came in the first doubles match, where Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi went down in straight games. However, the pairing of PV Sindhu and Tanisha Crasto wrapped up the contest with a 21-18, 21-15 win in the final match.

With momentum on their side, India must now overcome China to secure a spot in the quarter-finals, as only the top two teams from the group will advance.
