India Eyes 10 Boxing Golds on Commonwealth Games Day 9

India enters a crucial phase of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on saturday ie day 9 with its largest medal opportunity yet, as 10 Indian boxers prepare to fight for gold. Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain will spearhead the country's campaign in what promises to be one of India's busiest competition days across multiple sports.
Apart from boxing, Indian athletes will compete in athletics, para-athletics, judo, track cycling and lawn bowls, with medals on offer throughout the day. A total of 44 gold medal events are scheduled, including 19 in athletics and para-athletics, 14 in boxing, six in track cycling and para-track cycling, and five in judo.
India Opens Boxing Gold Campaign with Preeti Pawar
India's quest for boxing gold begins with Preeti Pawar, who will contest the women's 54kg final at 3:30 PM. She will be followed by Jasmine Lamboria in the women's 57kg final at 3:45 PM, while Jadumani Singh takes the ring in the men's 55kg title bout at 4:15 PM.
The evening session features several high-profile finals. Sakshi Chaudhary competes in the women's 51kg final at 9:00 PM, followed by Priya Ghanghas (60kg) at 9:15 PM and Arundhati Chaudhary (70kg) at 9:30 PM.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain will fight for the women's 75kg gold medal at 10:15 PM. The remaining Indian finalists include Sachin Siwach (60kg) at 10:45 PM, Ankush Panghal (80kg) at 11:15 PM, and heavyweight Narinder Barwal (90+kg) at 11:45 PM.
Athletics and Para-Athletics Offer More Medal Opportunities
India's medal hopes extend beyond the boxing ring. Shubham Juyal and Soman Rana will compete in the men's F57 shot put final at 2:35 PM.
At 2:40 PM, Praveen Chitravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran will participate in the men's triple jump final, while Ramesh Shanmugam races in the men's T54 1500m final at 2:50 PM.
Indian race walkers Priyanka Goswami and Raveena Gaikwad will contest the women's 10,000m race walk final beginning at 3:00 PM.
The late-night athletics schedule includes Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar in the men's pole vault final, Gulvir Singh in the men's 5,000m final, and India's mixed 4x400m relay team, all aiming to strengthen the country's medal tally.
Judokas Begin Knockout Campaign
India's judo squad, comprising Unnati Sharma, Karanjit Singh Mann, Harsh Tokas and Inunganabi Takhellambam, will begin their respective campaigns. Victories in their opening contests will secure places in the next round.
Track Cycling Duo Eyes Medal Race
Indian cyclists Dinesh Kumar and Harshvir Singh Sekhon will compete in the men's 10km scratch race qualifiers at 4:19 PM. Successful qualification will earn them a place in the medal race scheduled later in the evening.
Lawn Bowls Teams Face Crucial Matches
In lawn bowls, the Indian men's pair of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar will meet England in an important sectional encounter at 3:50 PM. A victory would take the duo into the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Nayanmoni Saikia will represent India in the women's singles sectional match against South Africa's Bridget Herselman, aiming to continue India's impressive campaign in the discipline.
With multiple medal events spread across boxing, athletics, para-athletics, judo, cycling and lawn bowls, Day 9 could significantly boost India's position in the Commonwealth Games medal standings.
