India ODI Squad for England Tour Announced; Shubman Gill to Lead Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI on Sunday announced India's squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, naming Shubman Gill  as captain for the three-match contest. Senior batter Shreyas Iyer has been appointed vice-captain, while experienced campaigners Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also been included in the squad.

England Series Key to India's 2027 World Cup Preparations

The ODI series against England is being viewed as an important phase in India's preparations for the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup. Team India will play a total of eight matches during the tour, including five T20 Internationals followed by three ODIs.

The BCCI had earlier announced the squad for the T20I leg of the tour, with Shreyas Iyer leading the side in the shortest format.

Varun Chakravarthy Ruled Out of Ireland T20 Series Due to Injury

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy will miss the T20 series against Ireland after suffering an injury. Despite being selected for both the Ireland and England tours, the spinner is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

According to the cricket board, his participation in the England series will depend on his recovery and medical assessment. A final decision regarding his availability will be taken after consultations with the medical team.
