India vs West Indies: Rohit, Kohli in ODI Squad; Gill Leads

BCCI has announced India's squads for the upcoming home white-ball series against the West Indies, with Shubman Gill named ODI captain and KL Rahul appointed vice-captain.

The selection brings veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back into India's ODI plans, while Ravindra Jadeja also returns to the 50-over setup. Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi have received their maiden ODI call-ups.

India's three-match ODI series against the West Indies begins on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram. The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30, followed by the third match in New Chandigarh on October 3.

Shubman Gill Named India ODI Captain

Gill will continue to lead India's ODI side, with KL Rahul taking over as vice-captain.

The leadership combination comes as Shreyas Iyer is involved with India's Asian Games campaign in Japan. Rahul also provides a wicketkeeping option, while Dhruv Jurel has been selected in the ODI squad.

The final 15-member ODI squad includes several experienced campaigners alongside new faces.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Stay in ODI Squad

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remain part of India's ODI plans for the West Indies series.

Their inclusion follows India's previous ODI assignment against England, while the selectors have also brought Jadeja back into the squad.

The ODI team therefore combines established international experience with opportunities for players from India's wider talent pool.

Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi Receive Maiden ODI Call-Ups

Punjab's Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir's Auqib Nabi are among the most notable new selections.

Dhir has earned recognition for his performances in domestic cricket and adds all-round ability to the squad. Nabi has previously been involved around India's senior setup and has also represented India A.

Both players now have an opportunity to make their ODI debuts if selected in the playing XI.

Ravindra Jadeja Returns to India's ODI Setup

Ravindra Jadeja is back in the ODI squad after being away from the format.

His return adds another experienced spin-bowling all-rounder to India's options, alongside Kuldeep Yadav and the team's pace resources.

The ODI squad also includes Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar in the bowling group.

Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant Miss West Indies ODIs

Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant have not been selected for the West Indies ODI series.

Pandya has been included in the India A setup for the three-match ODI series against Australia A in Puducherry, with his participation linked to fitness clearance.

Pant, meanwhile, has been given another leadership responsibility as captain of the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup against Ranji Trophy champions Jammu and Kashmir.

The 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is part of India's updated T20I plans.

His inclusion adds a young batting option to a squad containing several established international players. The BCCI has also retained two wicketkeeping options in Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.

Vipraj Nigam Replaces Varun Chakaravarthy

India have also revised their squad for the Japan T20I and Asian Games.

Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out because of a side strain, with Vipraj Nigam named as his replacement. It is Nigam's first senior international call-up.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has simultaneously been withdrawn from the Asian Games squad and added to India's ODI group for the West Indies series.
