India’s women’s boxing team delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Mongolia, finishing at the top with a total of 10 medals—four gold, two silver, and four bronze. Notably, every member of the team secured a medal, highlighting India’s dominance in the tournament under coach Santiago Nieva.
Four Indian boxers clinched gold medals in their respective categories. Meenakshi (48kg) opened the tally with a convincing 5-0 win over Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan. Preeti (54kg) followed with a dominant 5-0 victory against three-time world champion Huang Hsiao-wen. In the 60kg category, Priya Ghanghas secured gold with a 3-0 win over Won Un-gyeong, while Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) added the fourth gold by defeating Bakyt Seyidish 4-1.
India also claimed two silver medals. Jasmine Lamboriya (57kg) went down 0-5 to Punarawee Ruenroos in the final, while Alfiya Pathan (80+kg) lost 0-5 to Dina Islambekova.
The four bronze medals were won by Nikhat Zareen (54kg), Ankushita Borgohain (65kg), Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), and Pooja Rani (80kg), all of whom lost in the semifinals. In some categories, limited participation ensured podium finishes for Indian boxers.
In the men’s section, Vishwanath Suresh (48kg) and Sachin Siwach (60kg) are set to compete in their respective finals on Friday, keeping India’s medal hopes alive.
