Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz After Israel Attack

Israeli airstrikes on multiple locations across Lebanon on Wednesday have left at least 254 people dead and 1,165 injured, according to the Lebanese Civil Defense. The casualties were reported from several regions, including Beirut, Baalbek, Hermel, Nabatieh, Aley District, Sidon, and Tyre.
Amid escalating tensions, the Associated Press reported that Iran has re-closed the Strait of Hormuz following the Israeli strikes—raising concerns over global oil supply routes.
Earlier, the militant group Hezbollah had warned that any ceasefire agreement excluding Lebanon would not hold.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Hezbollah is not part of the current ceasefire framework with Iran. Previously, Iran had submitted a 10-point ceasefire proposal to the United States, calling for a halt to attacks on Hezbollah. Israel, however, rejected this demand and maintained that its operations against the group would continue.
Despite these disagreements, the United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to a two-week ceasefire after nearly 40 days of heightened conflict. President Trump said the decision followed appeals from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the country’s Army Chief.
