Iran Strikes AMAZON Data Centre in Bahrain:

Iran has reportedly carried out a strike on a data centre operated by Amazon Web Services in Bahrain, with the facility catching fire in the aftermath, according to a report by the Financial Times.

Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed that a fire had broken out in a commercial building, with firefighting units swiftly deployed to contain the blaze. The authorities, however, did not initially disclose the identity of the affected company.

The reported attack follows a warning issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which had threatened to target 18 American companies operating across the Middle East, including Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Meta.

Amid the escalating tensions, former US President Donald Trump заявил that a negotiated settlement is unnecessary to end the conflict with Iran, asserting that the United States possesses the capability to conclude the war within a matter of weeks.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has cautioned that the intensifying conflict could have far-reaching economic repercussions across the Middle East. In its assessment, the agency warned that the crisis has transcended national boundaries and evolved into a broader regional emergency.

According to UNDP projections:

  • Regional GDP could contract by 3.7% to 6%
  • Economic losses may approximate ₹18 lakh crore
  • Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has declined by over 70%
  • Global oil prices have surged to nearly $120 per barrel
  • Between 1.6 million and 3.6 million jobs are at risk
