Tehran Says Strait Of Hormuz Will Not Return To Pre-War Conditions

Iran has signaled a significant shift in its approach toward the strategically crucial  Strait of Hormuz Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the waterway would not revert to its pre-conflict status, stressing that Tehran would continue managing the maritime corridor according to its own policies while still respecting international regulations.

Speaking after the first round of technical-level negotiations with the United States in Switzerland, Ghalibaf reiterated Tehran's longstanding distrust of Washington. According to Iran's state media, he emphasized that Iran has never trusted the United States and sees no reason to alter that position.

Iran Rejects Trump's Claim On Nuclear Agreement

Former US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had agreed to international International inspections of its nuclear facilities. However, Iranian authorities strongly denied the assertion, insisting that no new understanding or agreement had been reached regarding Tehran's nuclear programme.

Despite the disagreement, Washington has temporarily eased some restrictions on Iran's oil sector for a period of 60 days following the Switzerland negotiations.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the Switzerland talks as positive and constructive. The Trump administration has relaxed restrictions on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports until August 21. US officials said the decision was linked to Iran's commitment to allow uninterrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Gadir Nezami, Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that diplomatic engagement with the United States has not reduced military preparedness. He said Iranian forces remain fully ready to respond to any threat.

Global shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz has slowly resumed. At least two oil tankers carrying nearly two million barrels of crude have successfully crossed the strategic waterway. However, maritime traffic remains considerably below pre-war levels.
