By that period, Epstein had already pleaded guilty in Florida in a case involving the solicitation of prostitution from a minor and was facing multiple allegations of sexual abuse involving underage girls.

According to reports, the introduction was arranged through a woman who had previously brought young women to Epstein.

Financial Support and Luxury Lifestyle

Investigators allege that Epstein provided extensive financial assistance to Dr. Shuliak throughout their relationship.

The records claim he:

Transferred nearly US$1 million over several years.
Paid the full tuition for her dental studies at Columbia University.
Sent financial assistance to her parents in Belarus.
Allowed unrestricted use of his credit cards.
Travelled internationally with her on multiple occasions.

The documents also suggest that, over time, Dr. Shuliak became involved in supervising some of Epstein's staff members and properties.

Alleged Green Card Strategy

Justice Department records further allege that Epstein devised a plan to help Dr. Shuliak remain legally in the United States after her student visa expired.

Following the legalisation of same-sex marriage in New York, he allegedly arranged a marriage between Dr. Shuliak and one of his female employees, believing it would accelerate her eligibility for permanent residency and eventually US citizenship.

Later, Democratic lawmakers accused Epstein of exploiting the American immigration system, arguing that the marriage existed only on paper.

Dr. Shuliak ultimately became a US citizen in May 2018, and the marriage reportedly ended about a year later.

Estate Revised Shortly Before Death

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges.

Documents reveal that about a month later he spoke with Dr. Shuliak by telephone for roughly 20 minutes. During that conversation, she reportedly told him that the legal proceedings might continue much longer than expected.

The following day, Epstein was found dead inside his prison cell.

Investigators say that shortly before his death, Epstein amended his will, directing a substantial share of his estimated US$600 million estate to Dr. Karina Shuliak. The revised testament also included a valuable diamond ring that investigators believe was intended as an engagement ring.
