Judit Polgár for Hungary President? Chess Legend Receives Presidential Offer from PM Peter Magyar

Hungary's globally celebrated  chess legend Judit Polgár may soon enter national politics after Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced his intention to nominate her for the country's presidency. The proposal marks a historic moment, as one of the greatest chess players of all time is being considered for Hungary's highest constitutional office. 

According to Prime Minister Magyar, he will personally meet Polgár and formally invite her to accept the presidential role. In a Facebook statement, he described the former Grandmaster as a symbol of national unity, integrity and excellence, saying Hungary needs a president admired by all citizens regardless of political affiliation. 

Who is Judit Polgár?

At 49, Judit Polgár is widely regarded as the strongest female chess player in history. She became the youngest Grandmaster ever at just 15 years and four months, surpassing Bobby Fischer's long-standing record and redefining the possibilities for women in professional chess.

Her inspiring journey has gained renewed global attention following the release of the documentary "The Queen of Chess", which chronicles her extraordinary career.
