Lucknow Fire Tragedy: 15 mostly Students Killed, Several Injured as Massive Blaze Engulfs Coaching Centre Building

A devastating fire in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh claimed at least 15 lives on Monday afternoon, with most of the victims reported to be students. The tragic incident occurred around 2:15 pm in the Aliganj area, sending shockwaves across the state. Six other people sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
Students Trapped as Fire Rapidly Spreads
According to officials, several students attending coaching classes on the second floor became trapped when thick smoke engulfed the building. Some students reportedly locked themselves inside a bathroom in an attempt to escape the flames. In a desperate bid to survive, one student jumped from the first floor but suffered serious injuries after landing on an iron grill.
Massive Rescue Operation Underway
Nearly ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the blaze. Rescue teams used hydraulic platforms to access upper floors and evacuate those trapped inside. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also joined the rescue operation.
Firefighters broke through the rear wall of the building to reach victims trapped inside. As the scale of the tragedy became clear, authorities arranged for additional ambulances to transport the injured and recover bodies.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Breaks Down at Scene
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who visited the accident site, became emotional while speaking to reporters. He said witnessing bodies being brought out from the building was heartbreaking. Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad also reached the scene to oversee rescue and relief efforts.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cut short his Aligarh visit and returned to Lucknow following the incident.
Short Circuit Suspected Behind Deadly Lucknow Fire
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have originated from a short circuit in the air-conditioning system located in the basement of the building.
The affected structure housed a pet shop and a medical clinic on the lower floors, while the second floor accommodated the Learning Space coaching library and Head Hopper Studio, a company engaged in 3D art production and game asset development.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the deadly Lucknow fire tragedy.
