Modi Hails Wins, Promises Bengal Reforms

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed party workers at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in New Delhi following the party’s electoral gains, laying out a broad political and governance roadmap for key states including West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.

In his 47-minute address, the Prime Minister announced that the flagship healthcare scheme Ayushman Bharat would be approved in the very first Cabinet meeting in West Bengal. He also issued a strong warning on infiltration, stating that strict action would be taken against those entering illegally.

He assured that under BJP rule, women would feel safer, youth would get employment opportunities, and migration would be curbed through development-driven governance.

“Lotus from Gangotri to Gangasagar”

Highlighting the party’s electoral spread, Modi said the BJP has now established a continuous political presence across regions linked by the Ganga. Referring to states such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, he remarked that “the lotus has bloomed from Gangotri to Gangasagar.”

Recalling his 2013 political journey, Modi said that when he was declared the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and filed his nomination from Varanasi, he felt as though he had been “called by Mother Ganga.”

Call for ‘Change, Not Revenge’ in Bengal

On West Bengal, Modi emphasized that the victory should mark the beginning of a new chapter focused on governance rather than retribution. He said the state is now “free from fear” and urged party workers to rise above political divisions.

“Let us talk about change, not revenge. Let us talk about the future, not fear,” he said, appealing to workers of all parties to end the cycle of political violence.

Focus on Assam’s Development

Referring to Assam, Modi invoked cultural and spiritual symbols, mentioning the blessings of the Brahmaputra and Kamakhya Temple. He noted that the people of Assam have reposed trust in the NDA for a third consecutive term, calling it a historic moment.

He highlighted that the BJP has gained support even in tea garden regions and asserted that the state would now witness accelerated development.

Assurance for Puducherry Youth and Fishermen

Addressing Puducherry, Modi said the NDA government would continue working for youth and fishermen. He referred to the development vision presented in 2021 and reaffirmed commitment to strengthening economic opportunities and livelihoods.

Historical Reference: Anga, Banga, Kalinga

Drawing from history, Modi said that ancient India’s prosperity was built on three pillars—Anga (present-day Bihar), Banga (Bengal), and Kalinga (Odisha). He highlighted their historical contributions in trade, education, and culture, citing centres like Nalanda University and Vikramshila University.

Women’s Reservation and Political Message

The Prime Minister also criticized opposition parties, including the Indian National Congress, for opposing women’s reservation measures. He said such parties have faced public backlash, particularly from women voters.

On Communism’s Decline

In a broader ideological remark, Modi stated that there is currently no state in India governed by Communist parties, calling it not just a political shift but a change in public mindset. He said modern India seeks development, trust, and forward-looking governance.

Conclusion

Framing the electoral victories as a mandate for development-oriented politics, Modi underscored that the BJP’s governance model would focus on security, welfare, and economic growth. His address combined political messaging with policy signals, setting the tone for the party’s next phase across key states.
