In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police, with the assistance of the Tripura Police, has arrested a wanted shooter from West Tripura district.
The accused, Aditya Kapoor alias Makhon, had been absconding since December 15, 2025, following his alleged involvement in the हत्या of Ravi Bala Chari in Mohali, where three shooters reportedly opened fire on the victim.
According to police sources, two other accused in the case had earlier been arrested in West Bengal. However, Kapoor managed to evade arrest and fled to Tripura, where he went into hiding for several months.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Punjab Police launched a coordinated operation with Tripura Police, ultimately tracking down and apprehending Kapoor from West Tripura. The operation highlights effective inter-state police coordination in cracking down on interstate criminal networks.
On Monday, the accused was produced before a local court and subsequently taken to Punjab on transit remand. DSP Rajan Kumandar Singh confirmed that Kapoor will be produced before a court in Mohali for further legal proceedings.
During preliminary investigation, police revealed that Kapoor had been living discreetly in Tripura, working as a taxi driver to conceal his identity and avoid suspicion.
The arrest has drawn significant attention, with investigators believing that Kapoor’s custodial interrogation could provide vital leads to dismantle the larger criminal network involved in the Mohali murder case.
Officials indicated that further investigation is underway, and more arrests may follow as the probe progresses.
