MS Dhoni Visits NSG Camp in Chennai Amid IPL 2026

Former India captain MS Dhoni visited the National Security Guard regional hub in Chennai on Sunday amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season.
During the visit, Dhoni interacted with NSG commandos and their families and also participated in weapon handling activities at the security facility.
MS Dhoni Fires Sub-Machine Gun and Pistol at NSG Facility
The 44-year-old cricket legend fired a sub-machine gun and also practised shooting with a pistol during his visit to the NSG camp in Chennai.
Videos and photographs of Dhoni’s interaction with the commandos quickly went viral on social media platforms, drawing attention from cricket fans and defence enthusiasts.
Dhoni Shares Meal With NSG Commandos and Families
During the interaction session, MS Dhoni spent time with NSG personnel and their families and shared a meal with them at the Chennai regional hub.
While speaking with the commandos, Dhoni jokingly asked, “I’m looking fit, right?” to which the soldiers responded positively.
Dhoni then remarked that he had been even fitter during his previous visit and added that maintaining fitness becomes more difficult with age and requires extra effort.
MS Dhoni Has Long Association With Indian Armed Forces
Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni has maintained a long-standing relationship with the Indian armed forces over the years.
Dhoni holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army and is associated with the 106 Para Territorial Army Battalion of the Parachute Regiment.
MS Dhoni’s Military Journey and Army Training
In 2011, MS Dhoni was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army for his contribution to Indian cricket.
In 2015, Dhoni became a qualified paratrooper after successfully completing five mandatory parachute jumps from military aircraft in Agra.
In 2018, Dhoni attended the Padma Bhushan ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan wearing an Indian Army uniform and marched formally to receive the honour.
In 2019, after the ICC Cricket World Cup, Dhoni took a break from international cricket and spent two weeks with the 106 Infantry Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir, where he reportedly performed patrol and guard duties alongside army personnel.
MS Dhoni Yet to Play for CSK in IPL 2026
MS Dhoni is currently part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in IPL 2026 but has not played any matches this season due to a recurring calf strain injury.
The Chennai Super Kings management had earlier confirmed that Dhoni’s return was delayed due to the recurrence of the injury.
Will MS Dhoni Play Against Sunrisers Hyderabad?
Chennai Super Kings are scheduled to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 63rd match of Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday.
The IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, popularly known as Chepauk Stadium, from 7:30 PM IST.
Fans are hopeful that Dhoni could return to action in the important IPL 2026 clash, although no official confirmation has yet been issued by either Dhoni or the CSK management.
