Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday made it clear that the state government is not considering any lockdown despite introducing measures to reduce fuel usage.
The clarification came after the state administration decided to implement a hybrid work system in government departments.
On Wednesday, the government instructed all department heads to ensure that 50 per cent of Group C and Group D employees work from home from now onwards as part of fuel conservation efforts.
Addressing the matter, the Chief Minister said, “There is no proposal to enforce lockdown in Tripura. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to minimise fuel consumption because of supply chain issues arising from global circumstances. Following that appeal, we have directed 50 per cent of Group C and D employees to perform duties from home.”
He emphasised that the hybrid work arrangement has been introduced only as a preventive step to reduce avoidable fuel consumption.
Manik Saha further stated that the people of the state are expected to support the Prime Minister’s call for austerity, much like the cooperation shown by citizens during the Covid-19 crisis.
