Padma Awards 2026: Dharmendra Honoured With Padma Vibhushan, Harmanpreet Kaur Receives Padma Shri

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred the prestigious Padma Awards 2026 on 66 eminent personalities during the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The awards recognised outstanding contributions in cinema, sports, public service, literature, science and social work.

Veteran Bollywood superstar Dharmendra was posthumously honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award. His wife, actress and BJP MP Hema Malini received the honour on behalf of the legendary actor.

Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded the Padma Shri for her remarkable contribution to Indian cricket. Under her leadership, the Indian women’s cricket team created history by winning the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this year.

According to official information, a total of 131 distinguished personalities have been selected for the Padma Awards 2026. Out of them, 66 awardees were honoured during the first phase of the ceremony, while the remaining 65 recipients will receive their awards in the second phase, the dates of which are yet to be announced by the Government of India.

The Padma Awards, one of India’s highest civilian honours, are presented annually in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri — to recognise exceptional achievements across various fields.
