PBKS chase 208 to beat CSK, extend winning streak

Punjab Kings registered a commanding five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the seventh match of the Indian Premier League, continuing their impressive start to the season.

This marked PBKS’s second consecutive win, while CSK slumped to their second straight defeat. Opting to bat first after losing the toss at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai posted a competitive total of 208/5.

In response, Punjab chased down the target in just 18.4 overs, losing only five wickets in the process. Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a well-compiled half-century. He was ably supported by Prabhsimran Singh (43), Priyansh Arya (39), and Cooper Connolly (36).

For Chennai, Ayush Mhatre struck a fifty, while Shivam Dube contributed 45 and Sarfaraz Khan added 32 runs. On the bowling front, Vijaykumar Vyshak claimed two wickets for Punjab, whereas Matt Henry and Anshul Kamboj picked up two wickets each for Chennai.

Earlier in the tournament, Punjab had also secured a win against Gujarat, while Chennai suffered a defeat to Rajasthan. Notably, PBKS has now beaten CSK for the eighth time in their last nine encounters, underlining their recent dominance in this fixture.
