Pradyut Meets Governor Over ADC Reforms in Tripura

Pradyut Kishore Debbarma, supremo of Tipra Motha Party, on Tuesday called on Indrasena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhavan and discussed a range of issues concerning the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

During the meeting, Pradyut briefed the Governor on the urgent need to revamp and reform the ADC administration to improve governance, development delivery, and institutional efficiency in the tribal areas of the state.

He is understood to have placed emphasis on strengthening the Council so that it can better address the aspirations and needs of indigenous communities.

He also raised several long-pending constitutional demands linked to the ADC, pointing out that certain powers, safeguards, and benefits available to other Autonomous District Councils across the Northeast have not yet been extended to Tripura’s Council.

The issue, according to sources, was presented as a matter of parity and justice for the indigenous population.
Pradyut further sought the Governor’s intervention in a number of matters affecting the Sixth Schedule areas, stressing that the Governor, under the Constitution, has a key responsibility as custodian of tribal autonomous regions.

The meeting is being viewed as politically significant amid continuing discussions on greater empowerment of the ADC and the future roadmap for tribal administration in Tripura.
