Droupadi Murmu arrived in Sikkim on Tuesday for a significant three-day official visit, during which she is scheduled to participate in multiple high-profile programmes, including a visit to the strategically crucial India-China border region at Nathu La.
The President landed at the Libing Helipad in Gangtok around noon and was accorded a warm reception by Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, along with senior government officials and top security personnel.
After arriving in the Himalayan state, President Murmu proceeded to Lok Bhavan, where she will stay during her official visit to Sikkim.

President Murmu To Launch ‘Pink City Runners’ Initiative In Gangtok
Later in the day, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to flag off the “Pink City Runners” initiative at Ridge Park. The initiative introduces specially designated vehicles for women and aims to strengthen women’s safety, secure mobility, and empowerment in public transportation services across Sikkim.
President To Visit Sikkim Himalayan Orchidarium And Namgyal Institute Of Tibetology
During her visit, the President will also tour the famous Sikkim Himalayan Orchidarium, widely known for its extensive collection of rare Himalayan orchid species and eco-tourism importance.
President Murmu is also scheduled to visit the prestigious Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, one of India’s premier centres for Tibetan studies, Buddhist philosophy, Himalayan culture, and research.
President Droupadi Murmu To Visit Strategic Nathu La Pass Along India-China Border
On Wednesday, the President is expected to visit the strategically vital Nathu La, a major mountain pass situated along the sensitive India-China border region.
During the high-altitude visit, President Murmu is likely to interact with Indian armed forces personnel deployed in the border sector and review the security preparedness in the strategically important frontier area.
President To Attend Sikkim University Convocation Ceremony
Later on Wednesday, the President will attend the seventh convocation ceremony of Sikkim University at Manan Bhavan, where she is expected to address graduating students, academic dignitaries, and faculty members.
President Of India’s Police Colour To Be Awarded To Sikkim Police
On the final day of her visit, May 28, President Droupadi Murmu will present the prestigious President of India’s Police Colour honour to the Sikkim Police in recognition of the force’s distinguished service, professionalism, and achievements.
The ceremonial programme will be organised at Palzor Stadium, where the President will witness a grand ceremonial parade along with a cultural showcase highlighting the rich traditions, heritage, and indigenous culture of Sikkim.
Officials stated that the Government of Sikkim, along with multiple security agencies, has made elaborate arrangements for the President’s visit. Tight security measures have been implemented across Gangtok and other sensitive locations included in the President’s itinerary.
