RSS Leader Dattatreya Hosabale Backs Dialogue With Pakistan, Calls For Strong Response To Terror

Dattatreya Hosabale, the national general secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, has said that India should not completely shut the door on dialogue with Pakistan despite ongoing tensions between the two nations.

In an interview with PTI CEO Vijay Joshi, Hosabale stated that India and Pakistan share deep cultural and historical ties and were once part of the same nation. He said that both countries should continue granting visas to each other and maintain exchanges through sports and trade.

At the same time, he stressed that terror attacks such as the Pulwama attack must receive a strong and forceful response.

Hosabale said that with declining public trust in Pakistan’s political and military establishment, greater responsibility now lies with Pakistani athletes, scientists and members of civil society to build understanding and peace between the two countries.

Remarks On Sanatana Dharma

Responding to comments made by Udhayanidhi Stalin regarding Sanatana Dharma, Hosabale said Sanatana is eternal and cannot be eliminated by political statements.

He asserted that Sanatana traditions have survived through centuries and would continue to exist regardless of criticism or opposition.

‘West Asia Conflict Is About Resources’

Commenting on the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Hosabale said the crisis should not be viewed as a clash of civilizations but rather as a struggle over oil, resources and geopolitical dominance.

According to him, most wars throughout human history have emerged from greed, arrogance and the desire to control others.

He warned that future global conflicts could even emerge over water resources. While wars may not destroy humanity entirely, they would significantly reshape human life, governance systems and global structures, he said.

Supports PM Modi’s Appeal For Restraint

Hosabale also backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for restraint and responsible use of resources.

He said simplicity and moderation should remain part of the Indian way of life regardless of whether the country faces a crisis or a war-like situation. According to him, such values become even more important during periods of global uncertainty.

He further said India can play a major role in promoting peace, dialogue and mutual understanding among nations during times of international conflict.
