Tipra Motha-BJP Clash Leaves SP Injured

Tension gripped the Lomprakai area under Takarjala Police Station in Tripura’s Sipahijala district following an alleged attack on the residence of BJP candidate Nirmal Debbarma.

Several police personnel, including Sipahijala Superintendent of Police (SP) Bijoy Debbarma, were injured during the ensuing clash.

According to reports, a large number of Tipra Motha supporters gathered and advanced towards the BJP candidate’s residence with the alleged intent to carry out the attack.

It is claimed that earlier, BJP workers had obstructed and threatened the Motha supporters, which further escalated the situation and led to heightened tensions.

Police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control and attempted to disperse the crowd. However, the situation soon turned volatile, with the agitated mob allegedly attacking the police.

In the violence that followed, SP Bijoy Debbarma and several other police personnel sustained injuries.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Sipahijala District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal proceeded to the location.

He stated, “A group of people had gheraoed the BJP candidate’s residence in Lomprakai. I have been informed that some police personnel were injured, but I am not yet certain about any reports of firing. I am heading to the spot to assess and control the situation.”

The area remains highly tense in the aftermath of the incident. Additional security forces have been deployed to maintain law and order, according to administrative sources.
