Tripura ADC Polls on April 12, All Set

The stage is set for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, scheduled for Sunday, April 12, with the Election Department confirming that all necessary arrangements have been finalized.

A total of 9,62,697 voters will take part in the polling process. This includes 4,82,025 male voters, 4,80,666 female voters, and 6 transgender voters.

The contest features 173 candidates vying for 28 seats, making it a keenly fought, multi-party election involving the BJP, Tipra Motha Party, CPI(M)-led Left Front, Congress, and IPFT.

To ensure a smooth and peaceful election, the Tripura State Election Commission has deployed 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces across the state. Security arrangements have been further strengthened with coordinated efforts between civil and police administrations.

Polling personnel have already been dispatched to their assigned stations under strict security. Meanwhile, approximately 3,500 EVMs, procured from Madhya Pradesh and tested in advance, are ready and secured in strong rooms.

The postal ballot process is almost complete, with nearly 97 percent of votes already received. Authorities are continuing regular flag marches and patrolling in sensitive areas to boost voter confidence.

Strict restrictions are in force from 4 PM on April 10 to 6 AM on April 13, including a mandatory 48-hour silence period prohibiting any form of campaigning.

Election officials have ensured that all polling stations are equipped with essential facilities. Voters without EPIC cards will be allowed to cast their votes using alternative identification documents such as Aadhaar, PAN, or passports.

To ensure transparency, videography has been made compulsory at all critical stages of the election process.
The counting of votes is scheduled for April 17, with trained staff and ECIL engineers deployed to ensure timely and accurate results.
