Tripura Border Security: Administration, BSF Conduct Major Eviction Drive Near Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence In Boxanagar

In a significant move aimed at strengthening border security in Tripura, the district administration, with support from the Border Security Force (bsf) carried out a large-scale eviction drive in Paschimpara under Madhya Boxanagar Gram Panchayat on Saturday. The operation targeted unauthorized structures built on government land near the Indo-Bangladesh border fence.

Officials said notices had been served to the concerned families well before the operation. Residents were directed to remove houses and other constructions located within the restricted area adjacent to the border fencing and vacate the land within a specified period. However, after repeated warnings went unheeded, authorities proceeded with the eviction drive under tight security arrangements.

Heavy Security Deployment During Border Eviction Operation

A strong contingent comprising Tripura Police, TSR personnel, CRPF teams, administrative officials, and jawans of the 49 Battalion BSF was deployed to ensure the smooth execution of the operation. The drive began in the presence of senior officials from the sub-divisional administration and security agencies.

Under official supervision, all unauthorized structures located close to the international border fence were dismantled and the area was cleared. Authorities emphasized that maintaining a vacant zone around the border fencing is essential for effective surveillance and national security as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (mha)

Administration Says Border Regulations Must Be Followed

According to officials, multiple appeals had been made to residents to voluntarily vacate the restricted area. Since the occupants failed to comply within the stipulated timeframe, the administration was compelled to enforce the order through a coordinated operation.

Among those present were BSF Company Commander Sunil Singh of Boxanagar BOP, G-Branch Inspector Bittu Kumar, Kalamchaura Police Station SI Ram Kishan, Additional SDM, DCM, and several other administrative officers.

Operation Completed Peacefully

The eviction drive concluded without any major law-and-order issue. Security personnel remained deployed throughout the operation to prevent any untoward incident and maintain peace in the locality.

While some local residents expressed concern over displacement, officials appealed for cooperation and stressed that the action was necessary to safeguard border infrastructure, prevent illegal encroachment, and strengthen security along the India-Bangladesh border.

Locals Raise Rehabilitation Concerns

A section of residents living near the border fence for years urged the administration to consider rehabilitation and resettlement measures for affected families. In response, officials maintained that the operation was conducted strictly in accordance with legal provisions and established border security norms.

The administration also warned that similar action would be taken in the future against violations of government directives in sensitive border areas. Officials reiterated that compliance with regulations governing the international border zone is mandatory and essential for national security.
