Tripura CM Manik Saha Conducts Surprise Inspection of GB Hospital, Announces Major Healthcare Reforms

Reaffirming the Tripura Government's commitment to strengthening public healthcare, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday conducted a surprise inspection of Govind Ballabh (GBP) Hospital , the state's largest referral medical institution. During the visit, he directed officials to immediately identify shortcomings in patient care, infrastructure, maintenance and hospital administration, assuring that all issues would be resolved through a time-bound action plan.
The Chief Minister said every department of GB Hospital would undergo a comprehensive inspection, with priority given to improving treatment facilities, reducing inconvenience for patients and modernizing healthcare services.
CM Reviews Healthcare Services at GB Hospital
Dr. Manik Saha, who also serves as Tripura's Health Minister, inspected multiple sections of the hospital to assess the quality of medical services being provided to patients from across the state.

The Chief Minister instructed senior officials to initiate immediate corrective measures wherever deficiencies were found.
Government Focused on Modern Healthcare Infrastructure
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Dr. Saha said healthcare remains one of the highest priorities of the state government.

He noted that since assuming office, the government has invested significantly in strengthening hospitals, upgrading medical infrastructure and expanding quality healthcare services throughout Tripura.
According to the Chief Minister, continuous monitoring and regular inspections are essential to ensure government hospitals deliver efficient, affordable and patient-friendly healthcare.
Patient Problems Will Be Addressed Promptly
Dr. Saha assured that complaints and operational issues affecting patients would receive immediate attention.
He stated that directions have already been issued to the Health Department to improve hospital maintenance, strengthen administrative supervision and ensure uninterrupted medical services.
The Chief Minister also announced that he would personally revisit GB Hospital in the near future to verify whether officials have implemented the instructions issued during Monday's inspection.
Comprehensive Department-Wise Inspection Planned
Highlighting the government's long-term vision, Dr. Saha said every department of GB Hospital will be evaluated individually to improve efficiency and healthcare delivery.
He added that discussions would be held with hospital administrators, engineers and senior officials to prepare a roadmap for resolving pending issues and accelerating development projects.
Civil Hospital Model May Be Introduced at GB Hospital
The Chief Minister revealed that the government is considering implementing several successful healthcare management practices adopted at Agartala Civil Hospital in GB Hospital as well.
He observed that GB Hospital already possesses robust infrastructure, making it suitable for further modernization and expansion.
Renovation work in the Medicine Ward is also underway as part of the hospital's ongoing infrastructure improvement programme.
Senior Officials Accompanied the Chief Minister
During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Services Director Dr. Tapan Majumder, the Medical Superintendent of GB Hospital, senior doctors, engineers and officials of the Health Department.
Tripura Government Intensifies Healthcare Modernization
The latest inspection reflects the Tripura government's continued emphasis on improving public healthcare infrastructure, enhancing patient experience and ensuring better medical facilities in government hospitals.
