Tripura CM Unveils New Jobs and Women Support Drive

Tripura Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday reiterated the state government's focus on employment generation, skill development, women empowerment and efficient public services as part of its efforts to build a self-reliant Tripura.

Saha made the statement at a programme held at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, where she handed over appointment letters to 16 newly recruited drivers of the Fire & Emergency Services Department.

CM Manik Saha Stresses Responsibility of Government Jobs

Congratulating the newly appointed Fire Service drivers, the Chief Minister said government employment should not be considered only as a means of earning a livelihood.

She said public servants carry an important responsibility towards society and must discharge their duties with honesty, dedication and perseverance. Saha also wished the newly recruited employees success as they begin their careers in government service.

The appointment programme came amid a wider government push to expand employment opportunities and strengthen public-facing services across Tripura. The state Cabinet has also recently approved hundreds of new posts and more than 1,000 appointments across various departments.

180 Agartala Women Receive Sewing Machines

Women’s economic empowerment was another major focus of the Agartala programme.

The Chief Minister distributed sewing machines to 180 trained women beneficiaries from the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. Each beneficiary also received a Rs 2,000 stipend.

The initiative is designed to help trained women use their skills to develop independent income sources and move towards greater financial self-reliance.

Saha expressed confidence that the assistance would create new livelihood opportunities while contributing to an improvement in the beneficiaries’ socio-economic conditions.

Tripura has been pursuing similar livelihood initiatives through skill development and women-focused programmes, including support for Self-Help Groups and trained beneficiaries.

Tripura Gets 52nd Fire Station at Manubankul

Another major development announced during the programme was the virtual inauguration of the new Fire Station at Manubankul in Sabroom.

The facility is now Tripura's 52nd fire station.

According to the Chief Minister, the new station is expected to address a long-standing demand of residents in Sabroom and nearby areas. It will strengthen emergency response capabilities and help provide faster assistance during fires and other emergency situations.

The expansion of fire and emergency infrastructure is expected to improve response coverage in the southern part of the state. Tripura's Fire & Emergency Services Department is responsible for fire-response and related emergency services across the state.

Ministers and Senior Officials Attend Programme

Minister Santbana Chakma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, Secretary Kiran Gitte, senior officials from the concerned departments and other dignitaries attended the programme.

Before the main event, the Chief Minister and other participants listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme at Muktadhara.

Tripura's Focus on Employment and Self-Reliance

The latest initiatives combine three major areas of the state's development agenda — government employment, emergency-service expansion and women's livelihood support.

While the appointment of 16 Fire Service drivers strengthens the state's emergency response workforce, the distribution of sewing machines and financial assistance to 180 trained women aims to turn vocational skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The developments come as the Tripura government continues to emphasise employment, skill development and economic empowerment as key components of its broader self-reliance strategy.
