Tripura Village Committee Polls on September 28, Counting October 5

The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) has announced the complete schedule for the long-awaited TTAADC Village Committee Election 2026, with polling scheduled for September 28, 2026 and vote counting on October 5.

The election notification will be issued on September 1, formally initiating the electoral process. The polls will cover 587 Village Committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Tripura Village Committee Election 2026: Key Dates

Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers until September 8. On the final day, nominations will be received between 11 am and 3 pm.

The SEC will scrutinise the nomination papers on September 9, while candidates who wish to withdraw from the contest will have time until 3 pm on September 11.

The main polling will take place on September 28, with voting scheduled from 7 am to 4 pm.

If re-polling becomes necessary at any polling station, it will be conducted on October 3.

The counting of votes is scheduled for October 5, after which the election results and successful candidates will be declared. The complete electoral process is expected to conclude by October 8.

Nearly 9.62 Lakh Voters Eligible

According to the final electoral rolls, around 9.62 lakh voters are eligible to participate in the Village Committee elections. The exercise will cover 2,634 constituencies and 4,597 seats, with 1,550 polling stations identified across the election areas.

The SEC has also made administrative and security preparations for the polls. Around 8,500 polling personnel are expected to be deployed, while the Commission has reviewed security arrangements with the police administration to facilitate peaceful voting.

The announcement brings clarity to an election process that has remained pending for several years. The elected Village Committees' previous term ended in March 2021, while subsequent preparations were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and legal complications.

With the election schedule now officially announced, political parties are expected to intensify preparations across the TTAADC areas ahead of the September 28 contest.
